transkei road trip, pt 2

On our return from the Transkei, we stopped for a visit to John and Nikki, Steve’s aunt and uncle, and their kids, Katy and Matthew, who live in a small town in the Eastern Cape.

We braved the rainy day to check out a pretty incredible waterfall on a nearby farm.

The mud was intense and super-sticky.

And the kids were hyped up with American candy (here’s Matthew examining his first Pixie Stik):

But after a rather intense and rowdy 4×4 trip in through the sticky mud, we eventually made it!
